Lyme Bay Winery

We tried the spiced Gold award winning LUGGER RUM, part of the Jack Ratt range of products (named after a notorious local smuggler).  The name Lugger originates from the type of fishing boats that Jack Ratt would have used to smuggle contraband into Lyme Bay.  All we can say is if he had this up to date spiced rum on board he would have drunk the lot himself –  we found that unlike the competing spiced rums out there (which are overpowered by vanilla) this one offers the full profile of spices without being too sweet. Delicious!

Brennen & Brown

We tried the IWSC award winning GIN WITH A HINT OF GINGER and were so convinced we purchased a bottle immediately!  These guys were right to revive a combination that has not been around for 100 years – they have succeeded in blending a smooth crisp gin with juniper at the forefront, citrus notes following, with a subtle yet warming hint of ginger to finish.

Malvern Gin

Multi award winners, Malvern Gin, have produced another winner with their Malvern Blush Gin which has been awarded the top Master Award at The Spirits Masters 2021. This uses the Malvern Dry Gin as its base, incorporating Holywell Spring Water and botanicals inspired by the Malvern Hills.  With no additional sweeteners, this gin is a delicate combination of floral and earthy top notes with a subtle fruit sweetness – sophisticated in both flavour and appearance.

Whistler’s Storm

Anyone for Tea – with a difference? We tried the Whistler’s Storm Assam Black cold brew tea liqueur which is based on the very best ‘second flush’ Assam leaves, blended with premium grade spirit alcohol.  The bold flavour achieved is completely different from anything else in the market and congrats to the young entrepreneur, Dom Richardson, for developing and launching this great product.

Luxlo Spirits

Is it possible to produce a gin which is low calorie, low alcohol with no compromise on taste and experience?  Yes, as we found when trying Luxlo’s Ginny.  This aromatic, smooth and light gin is juniper led, packed with natural botanicals and 28 calories per single serve, and contains only half a unit of alcohol.  We believe this superior brand will make its mark in the growing low alcohol market.
